"JUSTICE IN BALTIMORE"

Political View from the Underclass

“JUSTICE IN BALTIMORE”

If there ever was an example of someone being elected by the voting public but, not respected by the already elected status quo, President Barack H. Obama is that example. Though everything was “Hard”, as he put it, The President did all he could to protect and serve all of the American people. He has managed to be a successful President in spite of the Governmentlessness and the work stoppage since the 2010 Mid- Term election of the Teaparty. In another similar case, a newly elected, young African American female prosecutor in the State of Maryland was forced to indict 6 individuals. Early evidence and statements from the employers of these 6 individuals said their employees broke a few rules and department policies concerning safe transportation of citizens being transported. Statements were made concerning the suspects not putting seat belts or safety harnessing on the citizen. There was a video showing the citizen dragged to the transport vehicle and put on the floor of the unit. In the video it seemed the citizen couldn’t use his legs any more after he was chased and captured for transport. There was talk and of complaints of other citizens being given rough rides in the back of these units. An employee spokesman said that the unit made three or four stops one of them unauthorized before seeking medical attention for the howling injured citizen in the back of the unit. Somehow in the mist of all that was going on the citizen ended up with a broken neck and die. Charges were brought against the six individuals involved and all of the undisputed evidence was presented to a Grand Jury and three blacks and three Whites were indicted. Almost immediately there was a work stoppage by people paid to protect and serve and a record number of homicides were the result of that work stoppage. The result of the work stoppage during the Obama Presidency was a record number of good jobs lost and few created.

In Baltimore six police officers were charged in the death of an unarmed and obviously disabled arrested suspect name Freddie Gray. A Grand Jury indicted all six officers after evidence was presented for two weeks to the Grand Jury by Marilyn Mosby the state prosecutor in this historic case. Before charges were brought against the officers involved, the Baltimore Police Department Spokesmen admitted negligence in the transport of Mr. Gray in their transport vehicle. During the announcement of the indictment Marilyn Mosby declared that the officers are innocent until proven guilty. If the six individuals involved worked for a private sector transportation organization and the same evidence was presented to a Grand Jury resulting in the same indictments an attempt at justice for the family would proceed. There would be no claims on national broadcast from their labor unions that there has been a rush to judgment. The six individual would be arrested and charged and allowed bail while an investigation is carried out. After the investigation if evidence shows that a crime or crimes may have been committed, that evidence is presented to a grand jury for an indictment. That is how the justice systems work for everyday people but, not police officers. In a vast majority of police involved use of deadly force investigations, the police is never arrested or charged. When indictments are brought they are not indicted, that’s just how it is and has always been. Nobody knows how the outcome will be but, since the police have already admitted guilt to some of the charges, some guilt should be found. Even though The Department knows some wrong doing when on they rather abandon their post in Baltimore and refuse to protect and serve the people of Baltimore in high crime area out of fear for their lives and jobs. Nobody in Baltimore’s justice system has ever said all, most, every, or a majority of police deadly force shootings are bad shoots. Nobody is saying all or most police are bad or corrupt. The only persons I’ve heard make such an extreme statement were union reps and police spokesmen in defense of charged or suspected officers. So far this year there have been close to 500 officers’ involved fatal shootings and all with the exception of those three that were on videotaped in the atmosphere of “Black Lives Matter “were determined to be “Good Shoots”. If the number for 2015 rises to over 1000 killed by officers as was the total in 2014, that’s still less the 1% of the total officers in the United States that were involved in the use of deadly force. The vast majority of officers are not a menace to society and everybody knows that fact. I question why union reps and police spokesmen are denying an accusation that never was made by anyone.

The pursuit of justice slow or at all is not what blacks have ever expected from a State’s Justice System in the death of unarmed black men, women, or children by peace officers. The swift but not rushed judgment was like a breath of fresh air for law abiding black citizens throughout America, it set a historic precedent for justice in a case of a black person’s death in the hands of police officers. Baltimore illustrated the remarkable power of the vote that blacks today take for granted. The vote is the tool that people in power have used to stay in power and deny any power to the economically and educationally powerless masses. The underclass don’t know and understand that Everything in and about America is Political and their vote is the only power they have. Those who seek to alter and abolish the underclass vote know that the vote of the underclass is their tool to fight poverty and violence in a nonviolent way. The Black vote is feared by Conservatives who want to make it hard for the underclass to vote. The underclass have seen but don’t understand why the man they voted for in the national elections twice to be their leader as President seems powerless against State Governors who refused to support Obama care for the uninsured underclass in their States. These Governors accepts and controls the distribution of Federal funds otherwise as State entitlements and welfare. When the city of New Orleans was flooded by KATRINA the billion in aid provided by the World and our Federal Government was sent to the State Capitol (The Governor’s Office), not the City of New Orleans Mayor’s Office. Because the than Governor made a vow that she would not discriminate between wind damaged victims and flood damaged victims, tens of thousands of flood damaged underclass victims did not get enough money to rebuild their home and couldn’t return home. Most conservative Red State Governors are not concerned with the health and well-being of the underclass unemployed non-voters of America. Most Of the voting underclass doesn’t vote in local and state elections, they prefer to vote in National elections and don’t understand the importance of local and state elections in determining their everyday quality of life. It seem that Baltimore’s underclass understands especially since the death of Freddie Gray the powerful importance of State And Local voting in their pursuit of jobs, life, liberty, and happiness. The initial investigation, charges, arrest, bail allowed, further investigations, convening of a grand jury, and the indictment of the six officers involved, was legal and proper. What was unusual was the Speedy Trial Clause of the Sixth Amendment usually is used in the prosecution of the poor and underclass in a rush to judgment case. The wealthy and those associated with the law and law enforcement can slow roll the legal process until they can get a better deal.

What happened in Baltimore was the result of the underclass of all colors and creeds coming together and voting in the young and the brave under a Progressive not Liberal Flag. The baby boomers that fought for the right to vote can’t run anymore and it’s getting harder for them to walk. They just can’t keep up with the speed of change these days. Baltimore citizens have been for a while voting in the young educated, politically aware African Americans. Marilyn Mosby ran with a progressive agenda the same type agenda exhibited by her husband who is on Baltimore’s City Council. At the young age of 35 she is an elected State Prosecutor and she did what the voting people of Baltimore elected her to do. That was what she said she would do. Furthermore she did The Right Thing. She maybe the youngest but she is the brightest. The first State Prosecutor to step that far out of line without saying, “May I” to any of the defenders of the status quo she surprised the world. The charges and indictment reflect nothing more than what the world saw and heard from the mouths of police spokesmen during the internal police investigations I think it was her youth and passion to do the right thing that block the fear of failure and retribution, she was empowered to do what she had to do to feel worthy of the people’s trust. Some times and in some situation women clearly out performs men in a male denominated career. The vote is powerful and the youth must be made aware of the power of the vote in state and local elections where they live.

The vote is so important here in America that thousands fought and died for the rights of black people to vote. It’s only been 50 year that African American got the Federal right to vote. All the States didn’t want to give Negroes the right to vote so the Federal Government passed a Federal law. The law was gutted by the Supreme Court after President Obama was reelected. It seems like everybody knows the power of the vote in The United States even new immigrants. The exception is the underclass that needs the benefits of voting. If every eligible black voter in the South voted every election for three years there might be one or two Black Governors in Red States, imagine that if you can. It’s up to the young best educated underclass generation since Slavery to make sure to leave a path for others to follow by saving the vote for the children.
